myFILM mySTORY 2012 Review

myFILM mySTORY is a non-profit intiative of Katarat Ebda’a  that proved its success in   2011 and became stronger in 2012. The initiative was an opportunity for Katarat Ebdaá in discovering hidden local talents . The success could not have been possible without the generous sponsorship and support of its partners Higher Colleges of Technology- Dubai, Arab Business Machines, United Broadcast & Media Solutions, Audio network, Lenny Muthiah photography and Ideascape Marketing & Communications.

More than 70 participants were selected  this year to attend the 20 hour workshop to learn the basics of film making. They produced 19 films. 5 workshops were held: 2 in Dubai  2 in Al Ain and 1 in Abu Dhabi. It was very clear that most of the participants had hidden talents that were waiting to be discovered. They were enthusiastic to learn and explore the new means that would enable them to express their ideas and passion.

The myFILM mySTORY Award Ceremony was hosted by the Applied Technology High School Dubai  on Thursday 20th September 2012.  It was an hounor to have the guest speaker  Ms. Nayla Al Khaja , the first Female Emirati Film Maker/ Director who is one  of the 50 most powerful personalities in Arab Cinema. The ceremony was also attended by participants, parents, faculty members and partners.

During the ceremony, 3 grand prizes for film production were awarded. Winners of the grand prize received sponsorship for a short film production courtsey of Katarat Ebdaá which includes 30 hours of filming, 30 hours of training/mentoring and 30 hours of editing worth in excess AED 50,000 AED. iPads and iPods were provided by Arab Business Machine - Authorized Apple Distributer and were awarded as runner-up prizes.
