A Katarat Ebda’a Initiative
Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai Men’s College (DMC) of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT); United Broadcast & Media Solutions; Arab Business Machine (Authorised Apple Distributor) and Katarat Ebda’a jointly announced the launch of the myFILM mySTORY Teen Film Contest for young adults in the gulf ages 13-19 years old to create short films with a message for their community.
More than 60 participants were selected to attend the 20 hour workshop to learn the basics of film making. They produced 25 films. 5 workshops were held: 4 in Dubai and 1 in Al Ain. It was very clear that most of the participants had hidden talents that were waiting to be discovered. They were enthusiastic to learn and explore the new means that would enable them to express their ideas and passion.
The MyFilm MyStory Award Ceremony was hosted by Dubai Men’s College on Thursday 9th with the attendance of Mr. Massoud Amralla Al Ali Gulf Film Festival Director and Dubai International Film Festival Artistic Director and Mr. Ali Mostafa Director of City of Life. The ceremony was also attended by participants, parents, faculty members and partners.
During the ceremony, 3 grand prizes for film production were awarded. Winners of the grand prize received sponsorship for a short film production including 30 hours of filming, 30 hours of training/mentoring and 30 hours of editing worth in excess 50,000 AED. This is in addition to gifts provided by UBMS. Runner-up prizes were also awarded. Runner-up prizes of iPads and iPods were provided by Arab Business Machine - Authorized Apple Distributer.
During the ceremony, Katarat Ebda’a announced the myFilm myStory Contest 2012. Both ABM and UBMS expressed their intention to join the sponsors for the 2012 Contest.
